The Kansas City Royals and the Seattle Mariners face-off on Wednesday in Kansas City as they meet on Wednesday in Kansas City.
The Kansas City Royals looked to be in danger of blowing a lead and losing the game, but they rallied in the bottom of the eighth and got the win. Salvador Perez had three hits, including a home run and Eric Hosmer and Billy Butler had hits as the Royals scored four runs on nine hits. Bruce Chen got the start, but he didn’t get a decision, as Luke Hochevar picked up the win after Tim Collins blew the save and Greg Holland earned his 38th save of the year. For Wednesday’s game, Kansas City starts Ervin Santana, who is 8-8 on the season with a 3.19 ERA, but he is 0-2 in his last three starts with a 3.20 ERA.

The Seattle Mariners rallied to tie up Tuesday’s game, but they couldn’t close the deal as they took the loss. Kyle Seagar had two hits including a home run and Raul Ibanez and Justin Smoak had two hits each as the Mariners scored three runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Erasmo Ramirez went six innings, allowing three runs, but he didn’t factor in the decision as Yoervis Molina took the loss. For Wednesday’s game, the Mariners start Taijuan Walker, who makes his second Major League start. In his other start, Walker allowed just two hits and a run over 5.0 innings.
Kansas City is 8-2 in their last 10 games, 4-7 in their last 11 home games, and 5-2 Santana’s last seven home starts. Seattle is 3-8 in their last 11 games, 5-2 in their last seven road games, and 0-4 against a team with a winning record. Seattle is 5-2 in the last seven meetings of these two.
The Royals are rolling once again and I don’t want to be the one who tries to stand in their way.
