The Los Angeles Angels travel to the Rogers Centre to face the Toronto Blue Jays Tuesday night.

Despite a 6-3 defeat at Minnesota on Monday with ace Jered Weaver struggling, the Angels have been playing some pretty good baseball with victories in seven of eleven. What I do know is Los Angeles has done well in the past and suddenly have gone into a tailspin. It remains to be seen whether that scenario unfolds, but after back to back defeats, the team wants to get back to winning asap. Weaver didn't pitch badly, with three runs allowed over six frames, but nine hits and two free passes isn't vintage Weaver. Corey Rasmus took the loss, with two runs plated in 1/3 of an inning and the bats couldn't come back. Even though the offense totaled 12 hits, only three players mustered RBI hits. Jerome Williams is scheduled to be on the hill to face the Blue Jays. Williams has thrown the ball better his last several times out, but has struggled overall with a 6-10 record and 4.60 ERA in 2013.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Los Angeles Angels Free Pick - 9/10/13

The fans and Toronto organization are probably wondering where this team was the entire season after the Blue Jays have won eight of ten. These were the expectations when Toronto went on a spending spree in the off season, which is going to end with a losing record and last place finish in the American League East. Toronto has been getting great pitching the last few weeks and that was the key to Sunday's 2-0 win at Minnesota, with Esmil Rogers tossing a three-hit shut out over 7.2 innings. The bats managed seven hits, with Jose Reyes and Rajai Davis rapping RBI hits. Veteran left-hander Mark Buehrle toes the rubber in Tuesday's bout with the Angels. Toronto has been playing well and Buehrle is one reason, with a 1.27 ERA over his last three times out where he has allowed 16 hits in 21.1 innings.

Williams has picked it up lately, but not as much as Buehrle, which is a plus for Toronto. I think the Angels are hitting the ball better, so Buehrle has to be in top form here...
