The Boston Red Sox hope to inch closer to the AL East title with a win over the Yankees.
The Yankees have been trying to regroup and make a late season push for the postseason and had won four of five before dropping an 8-4 decision to the American League East leading Red Sox. The offense has been strong in the latest surge, but couldn't over come the work on the mound Friday. Hiroki Kuroda allowed five runs, with Preston Claiborn serving up a 7th inning grand slam. Brendan Ryan slugged a solo homer and Robinson Cano knocked two mor to pace the offense. The Yankees send left-hander CC Sabathia to the bump to slow the Boston offense Saturday. Sabathia absorbed a 4-2 loss to Baltimore with four runs allowed (three earned) in seven frames.

It seems that every time the Red Sox take the field they have been winning and that has them poised to capture the American League East title. Boston has won eight of ten after some late scoring in the seventh snapped a 4-4 tie. The bats have been racking up the runs and needed a few with starter John Lackey charged with four runs on seven hits through 6.1 innings of work, before four relievers held the Bronx Bombers off the scoreboard. Jarrod Saltalamacchia nailing a grand slam with Sephen Drew driving in two more. Lefty Jon Lester shoots for another quality outing when he takes the ball Saturday versus the rival Yankees. Lester received a ND last time out against these same Yankees, with three runs plated on ten hits in eight innings.
I think the odds are a little out of hand, with Sabathia and New York capable. I'm still going with the home team, but pulling the trigger on this juice is not my style...
