The Miami Marlins and New York Mets square off at Citi Field in NL East action.
There is not much to say about Miami that hasn't been said and what I'm thinking is this team needs a few bats to inject some punch into the offense. The pitching was okay Friday, but the offense came up short in a 4-3 loss to the Mets. Starter Brad Hand gave up all four runs on five hits and a pair of free passes, which put the bats behind the eight ball. The offense was Giancarlo Stanton, who clubbed a pair of solo homers. The Marlins send Henderson Alverez to the bump to face the Mets for the second time in 2013. Alverez defeated the New Yorkers 3-2 with both runs allowed on six hits over 7.1 innings.

The Mets lone goal that is within reach is third place in the National League East, but that requires the wins to keep adding up, while somebody has to beat Philadelphia. New York took a step towards their goal with Friday's win and the Phillies losing. A few clutch hits and great work on the mound by Jon Niece, who allowed all three runs on six hits, while striking out seven through 6.1 innings pitched. The offense played some power baseball, with Lucas Duda cracking a two run homer and driving in three, while Andrew Brown went solo. Daisuke Matsuzaka takes the ball for his fist career start against the Marlins on Saturday. Matsuzaka has only four starts on the season and picked up a 2-1 win over Cleveland, with a run plated in 5.1 frames.
This game is very difficult to find an edge some where to even pick a winner in my view. Matsuzaka has had some great efforts in his career and overall I would give him the advantage on the mound, but I'll take the better odds and probably won't bet...
