The Detroit Tigers look to inch closer the American League Central title with another win over the Mariners.
The Mariners have played Detroit tough in the past and certainly didn't embarass themselves Tuesday in a 4-2 loss to the American League Central leaders. However, that didn't help the win column with the Mariners saddled with defeats in seven of eight where the offense has struggled. Scoring was an issue Tuesday with Abraham Almonte going deep while Justin Smoak smacked an RBI single. That was not enough support for Joe Saunders who was charged with three runs on seven hits and a BB over 5.2 frames. Seattle gives the ball to Brandon Mauer on Tuesday for his second straight start after rejoining the rotation. Mauer struggled in his first start with five runs given up on seven hits over three frames in a 6-1 loss to Houston.

The Tigers haven't been playing great until the past week or so and just might be heating up for the stretch run heading into round one of the postseason. Following Monday's decision against visiting Seattle, Detroit has won five of six with the pitching turning up the fire. The arms continued to deliver in the series opener behind Rick Porcello who gave up just a single run on five hits and a pair of free passes through six frames to pick up the win. The offense totaled nine hits and walked twice with three players driving in runs with another plated on a wild pitch. Anibal Sanchez looks to extend his three game winning streak when he faces the Mariners Tuesday. In this span Sanchez has allowed four runs on 18 hits covering a combined 21 innings pitched.
The odds make this almost impossible to back the Tigers with almost zero value even on the run line. However, that's how I see it but you are probably better off looking else where unless the chalk doesn't worry you...
