The Oakland A’s will be looking to avoid another embarrassing loss on Tuesday when the A’s face the Angels.
The Oakland A’s got embarrassed in front of their home crowd on Monday as the A’s fell to the Rangers 12-1. Oakland sent Jarrod Parker to the hill against the Angels, and Parker got shelled. The A’s starter lasted just four and one thirds innings, while giving up eight runs off of eight hits on the night. Oakland then needed four different relievers to finish the game out. The A’s will be hoping for a better performance on Tuesday against the Angels when the A’s send out Sonny Gray. Gray has just two innings of work against the Angels under his belt, and in those two innings of work Gray struck out three, walked one and gave up one hit. Gray has done well for the A’s this season, having a record of 3-3 with an ERA of 2.63 and a 51/14 strikeout to walk ratio.

The Los Angeles Angels dismantled the A’s on Monday 12-1. The Angels had Wilson on the mound against the A’s and Wilson was solid against Oakland, pitching seven innings, while giving up just one run off of four hits. The Angels will be hoping for a similar performance on Tuesday when Los Angeles sends Garrett Richards to the hill. Richards has six appearances and two career starts against Oakland, and has an ERA of 4.11 and a WHIP of 1.37 against the A’s. The Angels are playing for pride only at this point, but as we saw on Monday, this team isn’t laying down for anyone.
The Angels are 37-37 on the road this season, while the A’s are an outstanding 47-27 at home on the year. The Angels have struggled some this season, playing at night going 49-60, while the A’s are an impressive 52-35 in night games this season.
I have to give the nod here to the A's. I like what Sonny Gray has done for Oakland this season, and lately Gray has been on fire, having an ERA of 1.83 and a WHIP of 1.068 in his last three starts. This quite a bit to lay down, but the A's are by far the better team, and I like Gray's chances of having a solid outing tonight against the Angels.
