The Cleveland Indians and the Houston Astros meet on Friday in Cleveland for game two of their series.
It took the Cleveland Indians extra innings to get it done but they got the win against the Astros on Thursday. Nick Swisher had four hits and Jason Kipnis, Yan Gomes, and Asdrubal Cabrera each had two hits as the Indians scored two runs o 12 hits. Starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez allowed six hits and a run while striking out nine over 7.0 innings but it was Bryan Shaw who got the win. For Friday’s game the Indians start Zach McAllister who is 8-9 with a 3.96 ERA for the season and 1-1 with a 4.96 ERA in his last three starts.

The Houston Astros have the worst record in baseball and with their los on Thursday they came closer to locking in that distinction for the season. Marc Krauss had three hits and Jose Altuve and Matt Dominguez each had hits the Astros scored one run on nine hits. Starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel allowed seven hits and a run while striking out seven over 7.0 innings as it was Rhiner Cruz who took the loss. For Friday’s game the Astros start Brett Oberholzer who is 4-3 with a 2.98 ERA for the season and 1-2 with a 2.14 ERA in his last three starts.
Cleveland is 7-1 at home against a left-handed starter, 15-6 as a home favorite, and 5-2 in McAllister’s last seven starts. Houston is 21-53 in their last 74 games, 25-60 in game two of a series, and 17-51 on the road against a team with a winning record.
The Indians are still very much in the Wildcard race and are the better team but the Astros have the edge on the mound here and it might be worth taking a shot on the dog.
