The New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants face off on Friday in game one of their interleague series.
The New York Yankees are still barley in the hunt for a Wildcard spot for the American league but those hopes are hanging by a thread. The Yankees are 4-6 in their last 10 games, 44-31 at home this season, and they are 3.5 games back in the Wildcard hunt but they have five teams they would need to jump. As a team the Yankees are hitting .245 with Robinson Cano hitting .312, Brett Gardner hitting .273, and Ichiro Suzuki hitting .263. For Friday’s game the Yankees start C.C. Sabathia who is 13-13 on the season with a 4.90 ERA and 1-2 with a 4.79 ERA in his last three starts.

The San Francisco Giants are just playing out the string as they play their last week of games as defending World Series champs. The Giants are 7-3 in their last 10 games, 33-44 on the road this season, and they are 11 games under .500. As a a team the Giant are hitting .252 with Buster Posey hitting .300, Marco Scutaro hitting .297, and Hunter Pence hitting .291. For Friday’s game the Giants start Tim Lincecum who is 10-13 with a 4.40 ERA for the season and 2-0 with a 4.58 ERA in his last three starts.
The Yankees are 16-5 in their last 21 games as a favorite, 4-1 at home against a team with a losing record, and 4-9 in Sabathia’s last 13 starts. San Francisco is 5-1 in their last six road games, 2-6 against the American League East, and 5-0 in Lincecum’s last five starts.
Sabathia just hasn’t been himself this season and Lincecum has maybe found his game late and the Giants look t be worth a play here.
