The Oakland A's will meet the Angels on Tuesday night in game two of their three game set.
The Los Angeles Angels fell to the Oakland A’s on Monday night 10-5 in game one of their three game series. Los Angeles sent Richards to the mound against Oakland, and the Angels starter got pounded by the A’s lineup, giving up seven runs off of eight hits in just four and two thirds innings of work. Los Angeles was forced to use four different arms out of the ‘pen on the night. The Angels will have Jason Vargas on the hill Tuesday against Oakland Vargas has fifteen career starts and 17 appearances against the A’s in his career, and in those matchups Vargas is 5-6 with an ERA of 3.58 and a WHIP of 1.09.

The Oakland A’s have already clinched the AL West, but as was evident on Monday night, Oakland isn’t laying down for anyone as the season plays out. The A’s had Milone on the hill against the Angels on Monday night. Milone struggled against Los Angeles, only lasting five and one thirds innings, while giving up five runs off of five hits to the Angels. Oakland will be sending out A.J. Griffin on Tuesday against Los Angeles. Griffin has four career starts against the Angels, owning a record of 2-1 with an ERA of 2.33 and a WHIP of 0.81 against Los Angeles.
Oakland is a solid 41-34 on the road this season, while at home; the Angels are just 37-41. Against left handed starters, the A’s are 32-21, while Los Angeles is just above the .500 mark, going 56-55 against right handers.
I’ve gone back and forth here between the Over and the A’s, but the solid play looks like Oakland. Vargas had done well against the A’s in his career, but lately the Angels starter has been getting pounded. In Vargas’ last three outings, the Angels right hander has an ERA of 7.72 and a WHIP of 1.531, lasting just 5.3 innings on average. Oakland also has the advantage in the bullpen as the A’s road ERA is 3.82, against a home ERA of 4.32 for the Angels ‘pen. I’m on the A’s here on Tuesday night.
