The Atlanta Braves dropped game one to Milwaukee on Monday, but they bounced back on Tuesday with a win. Justin Upton, Freddie Freeman, and Evan Gattis each had two hits as the Braves scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Freddy Garcia allowed six hits and two runs while striking out seven over 6.2 innings, but it was Craig Kimbrel who got the win. For Wednesday’s game, the Braves start Paul Maholm, who is 10-10 with a 4.44 ERA and he is 1-0 with a 4.96 ERA in his last three starts.

The Milwaukee Brewers had a chance to make it two n a row over the Braves, but they couldn’t get it done, losing to the Braves in the ninth inning. Jeff Bianchi hit a home run, Scoter Gennett had two hits, and Jonathan Lucroy and Aramis Ramirez each had hits as the Brewers scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Tyler Thornburg allowed seven hits and two runs, while striking out eight over 7.0 innings but it was Donovan Hand who took the loss. For Wednesday’s game, Milwaukee starts Kyle Lohse, who is 10-10 with a 3.51 ERA for the season and 1-2 with a 5.21 ERA in his last three starts.
Atlanta is 50-19 at home against a right-handed starter, 29-12 as a favorite, and 6-1 in Maholm’s last seven home starts. Milwaukee is 6-0 in game three of a series, 4-1 on the road against a left-handed starter, and 4-1 in Lohse’s last five starts as a road underdog. Milwaukee is 6-3 in the last nine meetings of these two.
