The Boston Red Sox look to inch closer to wrapping up home field in the playoff with a win at Coors Field.
Boston is king of the American League East for the first time in eight years but their work is not done with the home field advantage still up for grabs. The Red Sox missed out on a chance to move a game closer to reaching that goal Tuesday with an 8-3 defeat at Coors Field in a rare night where neither the arms or bats looked strong. John Lackey struggled early and that spelled doom when he allowed four runs in the first four frames before getting pulled in the 6th whith the pen fairing no better. The bats lone bright spot was Jarrod Saltalamacchia who slugged a two run bomb in the 9th. The Red Sox turn to Jake Peavy to contain the Colorado bats on Wednesday night. Peavy looks to get back in the win column with back to back quality starts ending in no decions where he allowed six runs in 13 innings.

With Tuesday's win the Rockies have still dropped seven of eleven with their pitching stuggling mightily in this stretch. The offense has been the strength although inconsistent which was what we thought would happen to this tem in 2013. However, every thing clicked Tuesday with Tyler Chatwood picking up the win with a lone unearned run given up on three hits through seven innings pitched. The bats racked up eleven hits with the long all leading the way with Charles Blackmon, Corey Dickerson and Troy Tulowitzki all going deep. Jhoulys Chacin toes the rubber Wednesday against the visiting Red Sox for his final start of 2013. Chacin is coming in off of a 9-4 decision over Arizona where he allowed a pair of runs in six frames.
I like Peavy and obviously the Red Sox are heads and tails better the Colorado but I can't pay this price on them on the road and would put something small or them or leave this alone unless the price dropped...
