The Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets clash in game number two of their series Friday.
I know the Brewers have absolutely nothing to play for but to their credit they have not packed it in and have won four of five after downing the Mets 4-2 on Thursday. Both the arms and bats have been contributing to the recent run with the trend continuing Thursday. John Hellweg tossed one of his better games even though he was gone after four frames with a lone run given up. The relief corp stood tall and the bats did some damage on seven hits Scooter Gennett leading the way with a two run single during a four run 4th. Yovani Gallardo hopes to finish a disappointing season with a win over the Mets Friday. Gallardo dropped a 7-2 decision to St Louis last time out with just two runs plated over seven frames.

New York is in the same boat as Milwaukee with nothing to play for except pride and you have to tip your cap to them as they have won five of six before Thursday's defeat. During their recent run the Mets defeated Cincinnati twice which ended the Reds drive in the NL Central race. The New Yorkers appeared to have a nice edge on the mound Thursday with Dillon Gee who had been throwing the ball well but struggled this time around with four runs plated through six innings of work. The offense had plenty of runners but receivede a solo homer Josh Satin while Daniel Murphy knocked in a run with a ground out. The Mets are scheduled to send Carlos Torres to the bump to face the visiting Brewers. Torres shoots for back to back victories after a 4-3 win at Philadelphia with two runs given up in six innings.
I thought the Mets had the pitching edge Thursday and it didn't work out and now I think Milwaukee has the advantage on the mound. I have to go with what I think...
