The playoff bound Atlanta Braves shoot for a season ending victory versus the Phillies.
The Phillies have been limping to the finish line as losers in eight of ten before knocking off the Braves 5-4 on Saturday. Getting a big offensive day hasn't been a strength for this team and getting both the bats and arms on the same page hasn't happened often enough. Ethan Martin started and allowed a lone run with Papelbon doing his best to lose it with allowed in the 9th. The offense racked up 12 hits and walked three times with Cameron Rupp leading the way with a pair of RBI's. Zach Minor makes his third consecutive start since coming out of the bull pen. Minor hasn't gone deep in two starts but has thrown well with a single run allowed on six hits and four BB in seven frames.

The Braves have been finishing out the string as their primary focus has been preparing for round one of the postseason. Atlanta looked a bit flat Saturday which they have been prone to do at times during the season. Mike Minor was victimized by poor support and relief work as he tossed a winnable game with only a pair of runs allowed on five hits and three bases on balls before the relief corps came on to give up three more. The bats did have some base runners with 12 hits and four free passes but were missing the clutch hit until Justin Upton crushed a three run bomb in the 9th. Julio Teheran toes the rubber in the last game of 2013 versue the rival Phillies on Sunday. Teheran was at his best in a 5-2 victory over the Cubs where he gave up one run on four hits over six innings.
Who knows what we'll see as far as lineups go but I do know Minor will go three innings and that's about it. Teheran is a solid hurler and I would be all over him if this game had meaning but I wouldn't lay chalk given the situation...
