The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals close out their seasons and their series as they face off on Sunday at US Cellular Field.

The Chicago White Sox had a horrible season but they got a win on Saturday as they beat the Royals. Conor Gillaspie, Adam Dunn, Marcus Semien, and Jordan Danks each hit home runs as the White Sox scored six runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Erik Johnson allowed five hits and three runs while striking out four over 5.1 innings to get the win and Addison Reed earned the save. For Sunday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who is 9-6 with a 3.45 ERA for the season and 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA in his last three starts.

Rob Grabowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Royals were one of the better teams not to make the post season this year but they took a nice leap towards at least being close to a playoff caliber team. Billy Butler, Salvador Perez, and Mike Moustakas each had home runs and the Royals scored five runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Yordano Ventura allowed six hits and four runs over four innings to take the loss. For Sunday’s finale the Royals start Bruce Chen who is 8-4 with a 3.31 ERA for the season and 1-2 with a 6.91 ERA in his last three starts.

Chicago is 5-9 in their last 14 games, 10-4 in their last 14 home games against a left-handed starter, and 5-1in Quintana’s last six starts as a home favorite. Kansas City is 9-1 following a loss, 2-6 in their last eight games as a road underdog, and 7-19 in Chen’s last 26 road starts. Kansas City is 6-2 in their last eight games in Chicago.

Over the years Bruce Chen has had his way with the White Sox an I don’t see why he wouldn’t here as well.
