The Detroit Tigers and the Boston Red Sox face off on Saturday at Fenway Park for game one of the 2013 ALCS.
It took the Detroit Tigers five games to get it done but the Tigers knocked off the A’s in the ALDS to advance to this series. The Tigers have some of the best hitters in the game but in the end it was Justin Verlander who pitched them to a win. For the post season Victor Martinez leads the Tigers batting .450, Jhonny Peralta is hitting .417 with five RBI’s, Don Kelly is hitting .400, and Price Fielder is hitting .278. For game one in Boston the Tigers start Anibal Sanchez who is 14-9 with a 2.75 ERA for the season and 0-2 with a 5.65 ERA in hos last three stats.

The Boston Red Sox had little trouble with the Tampa Bay Rays and now in a season where there was little expectations they are a series away from getting back to the World Series. Boston had the best record in the American League and with the AL having the home field in the World Series they would have the home field edge throughout. Jacoby Ellsbury is hitting .500 in the post season, Shane Victorino is hitting .429, David Ortiz is hitting .385, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia is hitting .300. For game one of the ALCS the Red Sox start Jon Lester who is 16-8 with a 3.71 ERA for the season and 2-0 with a 3.20 ERA in his last three starts.
Detroit is 41-19 in their last 60 game one of a series, 3-7 in their last 10 games as an underdog, and 10-4 in Sanchez’s last 14 starts. Boston is 42-17 in their last 59 home games, 8-2 in their last 10 home games against a team with a winning record, and 12-2 in Lester’s last 14 home starts. Detroit is 15-36 in their last 51 games in Boston.
When these two meet the trend is generally over and I see this one going over the total as well. I also have a play on the winning side and I will post that pick in the Premium Area.
