The Milwaukee Brewer and the Atlanta Braves face off on Tuesday for game two of their season opening series.
The Milwaukee Brewers got their season started on a winning not knocking off the Braves on Monday. Aramis Ramirez had two hits and drove in two runs, Ryan Braun returned and had a hit and a run, and Jonathan Lucroy and Scooter Gennett each had two hits as the Brewers scored two runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo allowed just four hits and struck out four over 6.0 innings to get the win and Francisco Rodriguez earned the save. For Monday’s game the Brewer start Kyle Lohse who is coming off of a solid campaign in 2013. Last season Lohse allowed 196 hits and 74 earned runs while striking out 125 over 198.2 innings for an 11-10 record and a 3.35 ERA.

The Atlanta Braves didn’t allow much defensively on Monday but without scoring a run they couldn’t win the opener at Milwaukke. Andrelton Simmons had two hits and Justin Upton and Jason Heyward each had hits as the Braves were shutout on five hits. Starting pitcher Julio Teheran allowed seven hits and two runs while striking out two over 6.0 innings to take the loss. For Tuesday’s game the Braves start Alex Wood who moves to the starting rotation full time after pitching in relief his first 20 appearances last season. For the year Wood allowed 76 hits while striking out 77 over 77.2 innings for a 3-3 record and 3.13 ERA.
Milwaukee is Milwaukee is 6-1 in their last seven games as a favorite, 3-8 in their last 11 games two of a series, 4-11 at home against a left-handed starter, and 9-4 in Lohse’s last 13 starts. Atlanta is 8-3 in their last 11 games two of a series, 2-5 against a team with a winning record, 1-4 in their last five road games, and 0-4 in Wood’s last four starts when their opponent scored two or less their previous game. Atlanta is 2-8 in the last 10 meetings of these two.
