The Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins face off on Thursday on Chicago’s South Side for game three of their series.
The Chicago White Sox have wont heir first two games this season and after finishing with one of the worst records in baseball they are looking for the sweep. The White Sox appeared to be in troube on Wednesday but they scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning before scoring the game iwnner in the 10th. Adam Dunn hit a home run, Alexei Ramirez had two hits and drove in two runs, and Leury Garcia had to hits as the White Sox scored seven runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Felipe Paulino allowed seven hits and two ruins while striking out six over 5.1 innings to not factor in the decision as Nate Jones blew the save and Ronald Belisario got the win. For Thursday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who was 9-7 with a 3.51 ERA last season after allowing 188 hits and 78 earned runs while striking out 164 over 200 innings.

The Minnesota Twins battled the whole way on Wednesday but they didn’t have enough to finish off Chicago as they lost game two o the series. Trevor Plouffe had three hits and three RBI’s, Kurt Suzuki had three hits, Jason Kubel had two hits, and Aaron Hicks had two hits. Starting pitcher Kevin Correia allowed five hits and three runs while striking out five over 6.0 innings but Glen Perkins blew the save and Samuel Deduno took the loss. For Thursday’s game the Twins look to avoid the sweep as they start Phil Hughes who makes his first start as a member of the Twins. Last season on the Yankees Hughes went 4-14 with a 5.19 ERA allowing 170 hits and 84 earned runs while striking out 121 over 145.2 innings.
Chicago is 6-2 in their last eight games as a home favorite, 10-23 in their last 33 games, 8-18 against a right-handed starter, and 5-2 in Quintana’s last seven starts as a home favorite. Minnesota is 15-37 in their last 52 games, 4-12 in game three of a series, 0-7 in their last seven road games, and 16-36 as an underdog. Minnesota is 1-8 in the last nine meetings of these two.
