The Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays meet on Wednesday in game three of their series with the series tied at one game each.
The Tampa Bay Rays knocked off the Jays on Monday but on Tuesday they never got it in gear falling to Toronto. Matt Joyce and Desmond Jennings had two hits each and WIl Myers and Evan Longoria each added hits but the Rays scored just two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Alex Cobb allowed five hits and four runs while striking out three over 5.0 innings to take the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Rays start Matt Moore who is coming off of a big year where he went 17-4 with a 3.29 ERA allowing 119 hits and striking out 143 over 150.1 innings.

The Toronto Blue Jays jumped on the Rays early on Tuesday and never let them back into the game. Adam Lind had two hits including a three-run home run, Melky Cabrera had two hits, and Colby Rasmus had a hit as the Blue Jays scored four runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Drew Hutchison allowed three hits and struck out four over 5.1 innings to get the win while Sergio Santos earned the save. For Monday’s game the Blue Jays start Mark Buehrle who is coming off of a 12-10 year allowing 223 hits and 94 earned runs for a 4.15 ERA.
Tampa Bay is 5-0 in their last five game three of a home series, 12-5 in their last 17 games, and 18-4 in Moore’s last 22 starts as a favorite. Toronto is 1-5 in their last six road games, 1-5 in game three of a series, and 2-7 in Buehrle’s last nine starts against the AL East. Toronto is 17-38 in the last 55 meetings of these two.
