The Cleveland Indians and the Minnesota Twins face off on Saturday in game two of their series in Cleveland.

The Cleveland Indians got off to a slow start on Friday but once they got rolling they got the lead and put the game away in a hurry. Nick Swisher and Yan Gomes each had two hits and a home run and Nyjer Morgan and Lonnie Chisenhall each had two hits as the Indians scored seven runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Danny Salazar was hit but he limited the damage on scoreboard allowing seven hits and two earned runs while striking out four over 5.2 innings to not factor in the decision as Josh Outman got the win. For Saturday’s game the Indians start Carlos Carrasco who worked out of the bullpen as well as making seven starts last season. Last season Carrasco was 1-4 with a 6.75 ERA allowing 64 hits and striking out 30 over 46.2 innings of work. The Indians were a playoff team last season and they should compete again this season.

The Minnesota Twins jumped out to a two run first inning lead on Friday but that was it for their scoring as they went on to lose the game. Chris Colabello hit a hime run, Brian Dozier had three hits, and Joe Mauer and Josh Willingham each had hits as the Twins scored two runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey allowed three hits and three runs while strik9ng out three over 5.1 innings to take the loss though Casey Fein was tagged hard allowing three runs in one inning. For Saturday’s game Minnesota starts Kyle Gibson who makes his first start of the year. Last season Gibson allowed 69 hits and struck out 29 over 51 innings of work for a 2-4 record and a 6.53 ERA. The Twins were one of the worst teams in baseball last year and they look they will be again this season.

Cleveland is 7-0 against the AL Central, 23-7 in their last 30 games, 37-16 as a favorite, and 2-11 in Carrasco’s last 13 starts.
