The Colorado Rockies shoot for back to back victories over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Coors Saturday.
Arizona ran in to a Colorado offense that was clicking on all cylinders in the series opener and the results weren't favorable in a 12-2 defeat. Randall Delgado just didn't have his best stuff with six runs plated on ten hits and a pair of walks in just four innings. The relief corps struggled as well with three hurlers giving up two runs each in an inning os work each. That was asking the bats to pick up a lot of the slack and that didn't happen with eight hits falling well short. Mark Trumbo did connect on his third homer of the young season with Paul Goldschmidt driving in the other run. Brandon McCarthy toes the rubber for the second time when he faces Colorado. McCarthy picked up a no decision in a 9-8 loss to San Francisco last time out with five runs allowed on six hits and a BB over 6.2 frames.

The Rockies home opener was a resounding success with both the work on the mound and at the plate coming together nicely with the hope this is a common theme on the year. Juan Nicasio received plenty of support but didn't need much with only a single run allowed on four hits over seven frames. The offense was just as impressive with with 17 hits and six free passes with Charlie Blackmon going 6-6 with a homer, three doubles and six RBI's to go along with four runs scored while Carlos Gonzales homered and tripled and drove in four runs. Lefty Jorge De La Rosa gets his second start of the season needing a big rebound from a complete meltdown in Miami. De La Rosa was rocked for five runs on four hits and a pair of walks in 4.1 innings of a 10-1 defeat.
Arizona is far better then their record and will turn it around at some point and it could be Saturday. I'm simply going with the Rockies bats here...
