The Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels face off on Saturday for game two of their AL West series.
The Houston Astros finished with the worst record in baseball last season and they hope to take a step forward this season. The Astros started with two wins this season and then have lost their last two including Friday. Jose Altuve had two hits, and Alex Pressley and Jesus Guzman were among those with hits as the Astros scored one run on seven hits. Starting pitcher Lucas Harrell allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out three over 3.0 innings to take the loss. Dallas Keuchel makes his first start of the year for the Astros on Saturday. Last season Keuchel allowed 184 hits and 88 earned runs while striking out 123 over 153.2 innings of work for a 6-10 record and a 5.15 ERA. Houston hopes to get back to winning on Saturday.

The Los Angeles Angels were winless going into Friday’s game in Houston but the got the win in convincing fashion. Josh Hamilton had three hits including a home run, Mike Trout had two hits including a home run, and Kole Calhoun hit a home run as the Angels scored 11 runs on 15 hits. Starting pitcher Garrett Richards allowed three hits and a run while striking out seven over 5.0 innings to get the win. For Saturday’s game the Angels start Tyler Skaggs who spent his first two seasons in the majors with Arizona. Last season with the D-Backs Skaggs allowed 38 hits and struck out 36 over 38.2 innings of work for a 2-3 record and a 5.12 ERA. The Angeles have high expectations once again and they are not off to the start they had hoped for.
Houston is 23-56 as a home underdog, 25-59 at home, and 1-5 in Keuchel’s last six home starts. Los Angeles is 5-1 as a road favorite, 1-4 in their last five road games, and 1-7 in their last eight games. Los Angeles is 7-1 in their last eight games in Houston.
