The Detroit Tigers will look to sweep the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers won Saturday’s game, 7-6.
Once again, the Orioles pitching let them down in game 2 against the Tigers, as Bud Norris allowed nine hits and five runs in just five innings. The Tigers have now scored 17 runs in the first two games against the Orioles. Chris Tillman hopes to turn things around, as he gets the start in game 3 for Baltimore. In Tillman’s first start, he allowed seven hits and one run in five innings, striking out four batters. Tillman is 2-0 with an ERA of 4.30 in five career starts against the Tigers.

There’s not much you can say about the Tigers offense, as it has woken up in a big way and staring to live up to expectations early. Torii Hunter hit his second homerun in as many days. Add the Tigers hitting to pitcher Justin Verlander, who will start Sunday, and the Tigers have to like their chances. Verlander allowed six hits and three runs in his first six innings on opening day and received a no decision. Verlander is 8-0 with a 3.26 ERA in 13 career starts against the Baltimore Orioles.
The Orioles are 4-1 in Tillmans last 5 starts with 5 days of rest and 17-8 in Tillmans last 25 starts. The Tigers are 3-11 in Verlanders last 14 starts and 62-25 in Verlanders last 87 home starts. The Tigers are 11-2 in Verlanders last 13 starts vs. Orioles.
Parden the heavy chalk, but there's no way I'm picking against the Tigers with the way they've been hitting the ball in this series. Add that to the fact Verlander is on the mound, and I see another Detroit blowout. Sure, Tillman has been pitching great lately and Verlander hasn't been his usual self, but this looks like a game where things turnaround a bit.
Take Detroit if you don't mind paying the hefty price.
