The Boston Red Sox and the Texas Rangers face off on Wednesday at Fenway Park for the rubber match of their three game series.
The Boston Red Sox came on late on Monday to get he win against the Rangers but on Tuesday they never gave themselves a chances as their home woes continue. On Tuesday Mike Napoli, Grady Sizemore, and A.J. Pierzynski each had three hits as the Red Sox scored seven runs on 14 hits. The Texas Rangers look like a team that will have their share of ups and downs but the had an up on Tuesday pounding the Red Sox in Boston. Robinson Chirinos had tow hits including a home run and Shin-Soo Choo, Prince Fielder, Adrian Beltre, and Alex Rios all had two hits each as the Rangers scored 10 runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Martin Perez allowed eight hits and four earned runs while striking out three over 6.1 innings of work to get he win and go to 1-0 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Rangers start Robbie Ross who had a no decision in his first outing of the year. In his first start Ross allowed seven hits and three runs, two earned, while striking out seven over 5.0 innings.
Boston is 6-2 against the AL West, 40-17 as a home favorite, 13-3 against a left-handed starter, and 2-5 in Peavy’s last seven starts. Texas is 4-0 in game three of a series, 8-2 against a right-handed starter, 2-4 in their last six road games, and 1-4 as a road underdog. Texas is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings of these two.
I like Ross’ stuff and with how bad the Red Sox have been it’s real tough to lay this big number but I will here in what is a lean I probably won’t be playing.
