The Cleveland Indians and the San Diego Padres meet on Wednesday in game one of a double header of their interleague series.
The Cleveland Indians got out to a nice lead on Tuesday in game one against the Padres and were able to hold on in the end for the win. David Murphy had two hits including a home run, Nyjer Moran had three hits, and Yan Gomes had two hits as the Indians scored right runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Corey Kluber allowed nine hits and three runs while striking out eight over 6.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 1-1 for the season. For game one on Wednesday Cleveland starts Zach McAllister who had a no decision in his first start this season. In his first outing McAllister allowed six hits and three runs while striking out four over 4.0 innings of work at Oakland.

He Padres are off to a tough start to the season and they lost for the fifth time this young season on Tuesday. Xavier Nady hit a home run, Yasmani Grandal had four hits, and Everth Cabrera had three hits as the Padres scored six runs on 15 hits. Starting pitcher Tyson Ross allowed five hits and seven runs while striking out two over 5.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-2 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Padres start Eric Stults who lost in his first start this season. In his first outing Stults allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out three over 4.0 innings of work.
Cleveland is 20-7 in their last 27 games, 9-3 in their last 12 home games, 8-1 in their last nine games as an interleague favorite, and 4-0 in McAllister’s last four starts. San Diego is 2-6 as a road underdog, 2-9 in their last 11 interleague games, and 1-6 in Stults’ last seven starts against a team with a winning record. San Diego is 2-6 in their last eight games in Cleveland.
The total in this one is set at eight and I like the over.
