The St Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds finish off their series at Busch Stadium Wednesday.
Cincinnati isn't off to the start they would have liked but I think the Red will be just fine sooner or later. The Reds went back and forth with rival St Louis before falling 7-5 on Tuesday. The bats were fine but the pitching wasn't with starter Homer Bailey allowing four runs on nine hits in five frames before Logan Ondrusek and JJ Hoover giving up three runs in two frames. A nine hit attack wasn't enough with Jay Bruce and Ryan Ludwick driving in two runs each. Cincinnati sends Mike Leake to the mound for the second time with the job of slowing the St Louis offense. Leake fell to the Mets 4-3 the first time out with all four runs plated on five hits and three BB in 6.2 frames.

Another year and St Louis doesn't appear to be much different from in past seasons which is bad news for the rest of the National League Central. Lance Lynn had problems with four runs plated on eight hits through six innings pitched with three relievers holding the dangerous bats of Cincinnati at bay. The Cardinals offense was alive and well with 13 hits and four bases on balls putting up plenty of runs. Yadier Molina left the yard with Kolton Wong and Matt Holliday each driving in a pair of runs. Shelby Miller draws Wedneday's series ending start against NL Central rival Cincinnati. Miller dropped his first start 12-2 at Pittsburgh with five runs allowed on six hits and a trio of free passes over 5.1 innings.
I'm not a big fan of laying chalk between big rivals and this is a match up between teams that don't care for one another. I still give the edge to St Louis but it will be a hard fought one...
