The Miami Marlins look to snap a two-game losing streak when they play game 2 against the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. The Nationals won game 1, 5-0.
For the first time this season, the Marlins looked like last year’s Marlins, getting shutout and producing only four hits. The Marlins came into Tuesday’s game with 42 runs scored, which were the second most in the MLB. While the fish look to get back on track offensively, Jacob Turner hopes to bounce back from a start in which he allowed five runs and eight hits in six innings. Turner was brutal on the road last year with a 0-6 record and a 3.98 ERA. Turner hasn’t been any better against the Nationals in his career, as he’s 0-3 with a 7.52 ERA in four starts.

The Nationals have won two straight and are getting wonderful production out of their pitching staff. Gio Gonzalez pitched six innings, struck out five batters and allowed just three hits as he picked up the victory in the process. Jordan Zimmerman will get the start for Washington on Wednesday. Zimmerman struck out nine batters and allowed one run in five innings in his first start against the Atlanta Braves. Zimmerman has also started 11 games against the Marlins in his career and is 4-3 with a 3.41 ERA.
The Marlins are 1-6 in Turner's last 7 starts and 8-20 in their last 28 vs. National League East. The Nationals are 17-8 in their last 25 home games and 15-6 in their last 21 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Marlins are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings and 5-16 in the last 21 meetings in Washington.
There’s going to be a lot of value to picking the Marlins as underdogs this season, but this isn’t one of those games. Turner has been god awful on the road and hasn’t been any better against the Nationals in his career. Not to mention Miami may once again struggle offensively due to the Nationals ridiculous pitching staff.
Take the Nationals to win their third straight game.
