The Houston Astros and Texas Rangers will begin a three-game series on Friday night.
The Astros head into the series with a 4-6 record and just lost two of three to the Toronto Blue Jays. Houston has scored more than three runs in just three of its first 10 games, but has allowed five or more in five games this season. While the Astros lineup tries to figure itself out, Houston’s most consistent pitcher in Scott Feldman will take the mound in game 1. Feldman is 2-0 with an ERA of 0.66 and has only allowed five hits in 13.2 innings. But while those numbers may seem impressive, Feldman is just 1-4 with a 5.77 ERA in seven career starts against the Blue Jays.

The Rangers 4-5 record isn’t what fans expected, as they’ve lost four of their last six games. The Rangers star-studded lineup has scored three or less runs in five games already, while the pitching rotation hasn’t been much better. One bright spot is that the Rangers return home where they are 2-1 this season, and they’ll have Yu Darvish on the mound. Darvish won his first start of the season, giving the Rangers seven innings and allowing seven hits and zero runs. Darvish also struck out six batters and picked up the win. Darvish is 4-1 with a 2.72 ERA in six career starts against the Astros.
The Astros are 1-5 in their last 6 vs. a team with a losing record and 23-53 in their last 76 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Rangers are 4-0 in Darvish's last 4 starts as a favorite and 6-0 in their last 6 home games vs. a right-handed starter. The Rangers are 5-1 in Darvish's last 6 starts vs. Astros, while the Astros are 6-21 in the last 27 meetings in Texas.
Although Feldman looked solid in his last start, it's tough to pick against Darvish at home. The Rangers have too many weapons and have the much better pitcher on the mound. While the chalk isn't pretty, it's tough seeing Texas lose this matchup.
