TV: ROOT-NW, FSN-SW

The Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers will begin a four-game series on Monday.

The Mariners have lost four of their last six games, including two of three from the Oakland Athletics. After starting the season on an offensive tear, the Mariners have scored one or less runs in three of their last four games. Meanwhile, the Mariners pitching rotation has allowed three or less runs in six of their last eight games. Roenis Elias can keep things going in his third start, as he’s 0-1 on the season with a 2.70 ERA and five strikeouts in 10 innings pitched. With this being his first season in the big leagues, this will be Elias’ first time facing the Rangers in his career.

Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners - 4/14/14

USA TODAY Sports

The Rangers took two of three from the Houston Astros and have now won four of their last seven games. Despite the Rangers having one of the best lineups in baseball, they’ve only scored more than three runs twice in their last seven games. The lack of scoring puts a lot of pressure on the Rangers pitching staff, which so far hasn’t been a problem for Robbie Ross. Ross has allowed just two runs in 10.1 innings and has 11 strikeouts. Ross is 0-1 in his career against the Mariners with a 2.03 ERA.

The Mariners are 3-7 in their last 10 during game 1 of a series and 5-2 in their last 7 road games. The Rangers are 1-7 in their last 8 home games vs. a team with a winning record and 1-4 in their last 5 during game 1 of a series. The Mariners are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings and 32-69 in the last 101 meetings in Texas.

When will the Rangers lineup wake up?

Who knows, but I do know Elias isn't a strikout pitcher, which gives the Rangers a chance to put the bat on the ball. With Texas also being at home, give me the Rangers for cheap.
