The Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers will play game 2 on Tuesday. The Mariners beat the Rangers on Monday, 7-1.
The Mariners have split their last eight games and are trying to find their mojo from earlier in the season. The Mariners pitching is holding its own, allowing no more than three runs in five of their last six games, but the lineup has been struggling mightily out of the gate. While the lineup tries to figure itself out, Blake Beaven will see his first action of the season. Beaven started only two games last year and was 0-2 with a 6.13 ERA. Beaven is 3-3 with a 2.84 ERA in six career starts against the Rangers.

The Rangers have lost three of their last five games and are also struggling to put runs on the board. While the Rangers lineup is one of the best in baseball, they’ve scored two or less runs in five of their last seven games. However, much like the Mariners, the Rangers pitching staff has been good enough to keep them in games. And that should change with Robbie Ross taking the mound, as he’s 0-0 with an ERA of 1.74 and has 11 strikeouts in 10.1 innings. This will be Ross’ first career start against the Mariners, but he has faced them 12 times and is 0-1 with an ERA of 2.03.
The Mariners are 6-1 in their last 7 games vs. a left-handed starter and 3-9 in Beavan's last 12 starts during game 2 of a series. The Rangers are 11-1 in their last 12 games as a home favorite and 5-13 in their last 18 vs. a team with a winning record. The Mariners are 32-69 in the last 101 meetings in Texas.
I just can't trust a pitcher who has only two starts in the last two seasons and is making his debut on the road. The Rangers lineup has to wake up eventually. Whether or not it's this game, I like Texas to get the victory at home.
