The Atlanta Braves and the New York Mets meet Tuesday in MLB doubleheader action from Citi Field. These will be the second and third installments of a four-game series. In the Monday opener, the Braves posted a three-run win. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Atlanta had some trouble with the Rangers over the weekend, winning Friday 6-3 but otherwise falling 3-1 Saturday and 7-3 Sunday. In the Monday game versus the Mets, the Braves put up eight hits in a 5-2 win. Starter Max Fried put up 6.0 innings with two earned on four hits.

Starting pitcher for Atlanta in game one will be Charlie Morton. This year so far Morton is 1-2 over four starts with a 7.00 ERA and 15 Ks.

For the game two starter, the Braves will send out Kyle Wright. Alongside a 3-0 record so far this season, Wright has a 1.13 ERA with 34 strikeouts.

Over on the Mets’ side, they managed a series win versus the Phillies over the weekend, winning two of three. On Monday, New York had a 2-0 lead after three innings but couldn’t get anything going afterward. Chris Bassitt put up 7.0 innings with three earned on six hits and a walk in the start.

Carlos Carrasco will take the ball for the game one start on the New York side. This year over four starts Carrasco is 1-1 with a 4.09 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 22.0 innings.

It looks like David Peterson will take the hill for the Mets in game two. Peterson has made two starts and a relief outing for New York so far, with one run on nine hits in 14 innings.

GAME ONE PICK: I’m leaning toward the Mets in game one. Carrasco needs a nice bounce-back start here, though. In his last outing Carrasco gave up seven earned on eight hits and two walks in just 3.2 innings against the Cardinals. Provided he can get back to form here I think New York will be okay.

GAME TWO PICK: As for game two, I’m probably going to try the Braves. Wright has been on a nice run so far this year. In his last two starts, Wright is 2-0 with one earned on seven hits and five walks in 13.0 innings. If he can keep it going Atlanta will be in great shape.
