The Cleveland Indians and the Toronto Blue Jays face off on Saturday in game two of their series.
The Indians battled on Friday but in the end they took the loss by a run to the Blue Jays. Carlos Santana hit a home run, Jason Kipnis had three hits, and Nick Swisher had two hits as the Indians scored two runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Justin Masterson allowed six hits and two runs while striking out nine over 6.1 innings to not factor in the decision as Marc Rzepczynski blew the save and took the loss falling to 0-1 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Indians start Corey Kluber who had a no decision in his last outing. For the season Kluber has allowed 25 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out 16 over 16.2 innings for a 1-1 record and a 5.40 ERA.

The Toronto Blue Jays never gave up hope on Friday and they pulled out the win in Cleveland. Melky Cabrera had four hits and Munenori Kawasaki, Edwin Encarnacion, and Colby Rasmus each had hits as the Blue Jays scored three runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Drew Hutchison allowed eight hits and two runs while striking out nine over 5.1 innings for a no decision as Steve Delebar got the win and Sergio Santos earned his fifth save. For Saturday’s game Toronto start Mark Buehrle who hasn’t lost this season. So far this year Buehrle has allowed 17 hits and two earned runs while striking out 16 over 21 innings for a 3-0 record and a 0.86 ERA.
Cleveland is 9-5 in their last 14 home games, 1-4 in game two of a series, and 6-2 in Kluber’s last eight starts. Toronto is 4-10 against a team with a losing record, 6-1 in their last seven Saturday games, and 4-1 in Buehrle’s last five starts.
We have two solid starters but Buehrle is simply the better option here and the Jays are playing better baseball.
