The Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers meet Saturday night for game two of a three-game series. The Diamondbacks won game one, 4-2 in the 12th inning.
That victory was the first win for the Diamondbacks in six tries this season. Friday’s win also snapped a six-game losing streak for the Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks continue to struggle mightily both in pitching and hitting the ball, but Aaron Hill’s single up the middle that drove in two runs may be the spark the team needed. Taking the mound on Saturday will be Mike Bolsinger, who has pitched in just three innings in his career, allowing six hits and three earned runs while striking out three batters. This will be Bolsinger’s first start of his career and first time facing the Dodgers.

The Dodgers have lost three of their last four games and are struggling to find a spark offensively. The Dodgers have scored two or less runs in four straight games, which includes striking out 12 times in Friday’s loss. Yasiel Puig has three hits in his last 17 at bats. While the Dodgers lineup searches for answers, Dan Haren hopes to build on his 2-0 start and 2.04 ERA. Haren has struck out 15 batters in 17.2 innings and has allowed only four earned runs. Haren is 3-1 with a 3.32 ERA in three career starts against the Diamondbacks.
The Diamondbacks are 0-5 in their last 5 games vs. a right-handed starter and 2-5 in their last 7 during game 2 of a series. The Dodgers are 52-24 in their last 76 games as a favorite and 20-7 in their last 27 home games vs. a right-handed starter. The Diamondbacks are 1-6 in the last 7 meetings vs. the Dodgers.
Hate the chalk, but there's no way I'm backing the Diamondbacks and a pitcher who is making his first start against a loaded Dodgers lineup that is due for a breakout performance. Not to mention Haren has been on the money in his first three starts.
Take LA if you think the price is worth it.
