The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee Brewers face off on Saturday at PNC Park for game three of their series.
The Pittsburgh Pirates opened their series with the Brewers with a win on Thursday but they had no answers on Friday losing game two. Russell Martin had two hits and Andrew McCutchen and Starling Marte each had hits as the Pirates scored three runs on six hits. On the mound Charlie Morton allowed eight hits and five runs while striking out three over 6.00 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Pirates start Wandy Rodriguez who is coming off of his worst start of the year. For the season Rodriguez has allowed 20 hits and 13 earned runs while striking out 13 over 16 innings of work for a 0-2 record and a 7.31 ERA.

The Milwaukee Brewers jumped on the Pirates on Friday and put out all of the fires to get the win. Carlos Gomez had two hits including a home run, Martin Moldonando had three hits, and Mark Reynolds had two hits as the Brewers scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Kyle Lohse allowed four hits and three runs while striking out five over 6.1 innings to get the win and go to 3-1 for the season and Francisco Rodriguez earned his fifth save. For Saturday’s game the Brewers start Matt Garza who is still looking for his first win as a member of the Brewers. For the season Garza has allowed 19 hits and eight runs while striking out 17 over 21 innings for a 0-2 record and a 3.43 ERA.
Pittsburgh is 5-2 in their last seven home games, 2-6 in their last eight games, and 1-4 in Rodriguez’s last five starts. Milwaukee is 7-1 in their last eight road games, 5-1 as a road favorite, and 11-3 in their last 14 games. Milwaukee is 3-8 in their last 11 games in Pittsburgh.
