The Baltimore Orioles and Boston Red Sox will meet Sunday night for game three of a four-game series on ESPN. The series is split at one game apiece.
The Orioles have won three of their last four games and have turned to their pitching staff to get the job done. The Orioles have allowed four or less runs in four straight games, which includes 15 strikeouts in the first two games against the Red Sox. Taking the mound Sunday night will be Ubaldo Jimenez, who is 0-3 on the season with a 7.31 ERA, and he’s allowed 23 hits in 16 innings of work. Jimenez is 1-3 with a 10.27 ERA in five career starts against the Red Sox.

The Red Sox have also won three of their last four games and are coming off a 4-2 win on Saturday over the Orioles. The Red Sox continue to have a hard time putting runs on the board, but the heart of their order produced five of their six hits in the victory, while the pitching staff allowed three or less runs for the fourth time in six games. Jake Peavy will get the nod on Sunday, as he’s 0-0 on the season with a 1.93 ERA. Peavy has allowed just four runs and 12 hits in 18.2 innings. Peavy is also 2-0 with a 3.15 ERA in three career starts against the Orioles.
The Orioles are 4-1 in their last 5 games as a road underdog and 10-4 in their last 14 vs. a team with a losing record. The Red Sox are 1-4 in Peavy's last 5 starts and 41-18 in their last 59 games as a home favorite.
Peavy has been terrific this season so far and deserves to pick up a victory for his efforts. There's no better time than Sunday on national TV. Jimenez has been god awful this season and doesn't look like he's going to get back on track any time soon. Give me the Red Sox.
