Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds MLB Pick, Odds, Prediction 4/22/14

USA TODAY Sports

The Cincinnati Reds battled back several times on Monday but in the end they came up short taking the loss in Pittsburgh. Brandon Phillips, Todd Frazier, and Devin Mesoraco each had three hits as the Reds scored five runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Mike Leake allowed eight hits and four runs while striking out two over 7.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Manny Parra blew the save and J.J. Hoover took the loss to fall to 1-2 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Reds start Johnny Cueto who is coming off of his frist win of the season. For the year Cueto has allowed 16 hits and five runs while striking out 35 over 30 innings for a 1-2 record and a 1.50 ERA.

Pittsburgh is 2-5 in their last seven games as an underdog, 4-8 in their last 12 games, and 1-4 following a win. Cincinnati is 8-18 in their last 26 games, 4-1 following a loss, and 1-4 in Cueto’s last five road starts. Cincinnati is 13-6 in Cueto’s last 16 starts against Pittsburgh.

This should be a good one and not one I will likely be playing but with a free pick I like the Pirates here.
