The Colorado Rockies will look to sweep the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday afternoon. The Rockies won game two, 2-1.
The Giants have now lost five of their last six games and could be swept for the first time this season. The Giants pitching staff continues to get the job done, but their batting lineup has produced no more than two runs in six of their last seven games. Pablo Sandoval is batting just .169 and the Giants have struck out 164 times. Matt Cain is still searching for his first win of the season, as he’s 0-3 with a 2.88 ERA and has 21 strikeouts in 25 innings. Cain has allowed just eight earned runs so far, and he’s 17-8 with a 3.15 ERA in 32 career starts against the Rockies.

The Rockies have won five of their last six games and could get their first sweep of the season. Like the Giants, the Rockies pitching staff continues to play out of its mind, holding teams to two or less runs in five of their last six games. Charlie Blackmon had the day off in game two, but he has seven hits in his last four games. Taking the mound Wednesday will be Tyler Chatwood, who is 1-0 on the season with a 2.77 ERA and has 11 strikeouts in 13 innings. Chatwood is 3-2 with a 2.73 ERA in six career starts against the Giants.
The Giants are 2-12 in Cains last 14 starts as a favorite and 10-4 in their last 14 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Rockies are 5-1 in Chatwoods last 6 home starts and 1-4 in their last 5 during game 3 of a series. The Giants are 7-2 in Cains last 9 starts vs. Rockies.
It's tough imagining Cain starting the season with four straight losses. It’s also only a matter of time before the Giants offense wakes up.
Give me San Fran for the cheap price.
