The Minnesota Twins look to even their series at Tampa Bay when they continue their battle at Tropicana Field.
I am well aware the season is still young but if you follow the game you have to be impressed by the decent start Minnesota is enjoying after a dismal 2013. Of course everything could go south in a heartbeat and Tuesday's 7-3 defeat at Tropicana Field is hopefully not the beginning of bad times. Starter Kyle Gibson has been one of the Twins best pitchers but struggled with seven runs given up on ten hits in only three frames which put the offense in a huge hole. The bats posted six hits and walked once with Chris Colabello smacking a two run homer while Brian Dozier went solo. Veteran Mike Pelfrey gets the call at Tropicana Field on Wednesday looking for win number one in 2014. Pelfrey did not get a decision in 9-5 victory over Toronto where he was charged with five runs (four earned) in 4.1 innings.

Tampa Bay is treading water in the early stages of 2014 which has been the status quo for this team over the years. The Rays are a team that usually depends on their rotation to keep the scoreboard managable while hoping the offense can scrape up some scoring. TB received a lot of everything Tuesday with strong pitching and early scoring. Ace lefty David Price held a solid Minnesota offense in check with a complete game six hitter while striking out 12. The bats made that a winning performance with 12 hits and a trio of bases on balls with Dvid DeJesus posting three hits and three RBI's while Matt Joyce and James Loney recorded two RBI's apiece. Jake Odorizzi looks to break a two game skid when he faces Minnesota Wednesday. Odorizzi dropped a 3-0 decision at Baltimore in his last start with all three runs plated on five hits and three walks in five frames.
Is this the game Pelfrey tosses his occasinal gem and does Odorizzi go deep in to the game? I don't like either squad here but I don't think Odorizzi should be a huge fave. Having said that I guess I would take a small shot with Pelfrey and the plus money and that's hard to type...
