The Texas Rangers appeared to be headed toward their fourth win in a row on Friday but they let it slip away and lost in Seattle. Prince Fielder and Alex Rios had two hits each and Adrian Beltre had a hit as the Rangers scored five runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Robbie Ross allowed six hits and two runs while striking out five over 6.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Neal Cotts blew his third save this year and took the loss to fall to 1-3 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rangers start Colby Lewis who is coming off of a win in his last start. For the season Lewis has allowed 14 hits and five runs while striking out eight over 10.2 innings for a 1-1 record and a 4.22 ERA.
Seattle is 2-8 in their last 10 games, 2-5 against the AL West, and 1-4 in Hernandez’s last five home starts. Texas is 8-2 in their last 10 games, 35-16 against a team with a losing record, and 1-5 in Lewis’ last six road starts. Texas is 6-2 in the last eight meetings of these two.
King Felix is holding court and it is just always tough to go against him despite him always facing a tough matchup and while Lewis appears to be back, I will go with the Mariners.
