The Pittsburgh Pirates and Baltimore Orioles will play a quick two-game series that begins on Wednesday.
The Pirates have been an absolute funk lately, losing eight of their last 10 games and falling to 10-16 on the season. As has been the case for the Pirates dating back to last season, they can’t score. The Pirates have been held to two or less runs in five of their last six games, and they’ve struck out 214 times in 26 games. Knowing the scoring issues, Charlie Morton will have to be better, as he’s 0-3 with a 4.35 ERA and has 21 strikeouts in 31 innings. Morton allowed seven runs and eight hits in just two innings in his only career start against the Orioles.

The Orioles just lost two of three to the Kansas City Royals, but have won four of their last seven games overall. The Orioles have been inconsistent offensively, but are capable of turning it on, as they’ve scored five or more runs nine times this season. Nelson Cruz has five homeruns in his last eight games, and Matt Wieters has nine RBI in his last 10 games. Taking the mound Tuesday will be Chris Tillman, who is 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA and has 27 strikeouts in 32 innings. This will be Tillman’s first career game against the Pirates.
The Pirates are 4-1 in their last 5 games following an off day and 20-53 in their last 73 interleague road games. The Orioles are 7-1 in their last 8 games following a loss and 3-8 in their last 11 during game 1 of a series. The Pirates are 1-5 in the last 6 meetings in Baltimore.
Tillman has gotten off to a solid start this season, while Morton has been one of the few Pirate pitchers who doesn't give Pittsburgh much of a shot at winning. Take Baltimore and the juice for the victory.
