The Detroit Tigers have played the fewest games of any team I baseball as the weather just doesn’t seem to cooperate with them. The Tigers were rained out on Sunday and off on Monday but they are 3-4 on the road, 6-4 in their last 10 games, and they have The a one game lead in the AL Central. As a team the Tigers are hitting .275 with Rajai Davis hitting .353, Austin Jackson hitting .314, and Torii Hunter hitting .310. The Detroit pitching staff has an ERA of 3.97 with the starters at 3.07 and the bullpen at 5.65. For game one at Chicago the Tigers start Justin Verlander who has won his last three starts. For the season Verlander has allowed 33 hits and eight earned runs while striking out 27 over 33 innings for a 3-1 record and a 2.18 ERA.
Chicago is 4-1 in game one of a series, 14-31 as an underdog, and 1-5 in Quintana’s last six starts as an underdog. Detroit is 12-2 against a left-handed starter, 1-5 in game one of a series, and 2-5 in Verlander’s last seven road starts. Detroit is 45-20 in their last 65 against Chicago.
The White Sox have simply been hot and are playing well and the Tigers seem to struggle out of the gate in each series and I look for them to do the same here.
