The Miami Marlins and the Atlanta Braves face off on Wednesday in Miami as they continue their NL East series.
The Miami Marlins clearly have things moving in the right direction and we saw it once against on Tuesday as they pounded the Braves. Jarrod Saltalamacchia had three hits including a home run, Ed Lucas had three hits, and Giancarlo Stanton hit his eighth home run as the marlins scored nine runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Jose Fernandez pitched another gem allowing two hits and striking out eight over 8.0 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 401 on the season. For Wednesday’s game the marlins start Nathan Eovaldi who has had no decisions in his last three starts. For the season Eovaldi has allowed 31 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out 30 over 31.1 innings for a 1-1 record and a 2.87 ERA.

The Atlanta braves never got the bats going on Tuesday taking a one sided loss in Miami. Jason Heyward, Romero Pena, and Ryan Doumit each had hits as the braves failed to score on three hits. Starting pitcher Alex Wood was hit hard allowing 10 hits and seven earned runs while striking out two over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 2-4 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Braves start Aaron Harang who has been outstanding this year. For the season Harang has allowed 15 hits and three runs while striking out 33 over 31.2 innings for a 3-1 record and a 0.85 ERA.
Miami is 5-1 in their last six home games, 7-13 in their last 20 games, and 4-1 in Eovaldi’s last five starts. Atlanta is 4-1 in their last five games, 9-4 against the NL East, and 4-1 in Harang’s last five starts. Atlanta is 22-7 in their last 29 games in Miami.
