The Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins clash in game one of their twin bill at Target Field.
The Dodgers are expected to be in the battle for supremacy in the National League West but have to settle for third despite a 15-12 record. The Dodgers are hoping to get on an early season heater after knocking off the Twins 6-4on Wednesday. This one belonged to Zack Greinke as he contained a dangerous Twins attack with a single run scored on seven hits over seven frames before Paco Rodriguez was tagged for three 9th inning runs in just 1/3 of a frame. The bats still prevailed with 12 hits and four walks with Juan Uribe leading the team with two RBI's. The Dodgers shoot for back to back victories when Dan Haren takes the ball in game on of their DH at Minnesota. Haren is red hot to kick off 2014 with a 3-0 record and 2.03 ERA through five starts.

There are a few nice stories in baseball and Minnesota is one of them right now as they entered Wednesday in second place in the American League Central. It will be an even bigger story if the Twins continue to play well going forward. The dangerous offense couldn't save the day in Wednesday's defeat at the hands of the visiting Dodgers as Kyle Gibson couldn't protect an early 1-0 lead. Gibson took the loss with five runs plated on nine hits and a trio of BB in 6.2 frames. The offense pounded out 12 hits but did most of their damage in a three run 9th. Trevor Plouffe and Eduardo Escobar swung the big bats with two runs driven in with Eduardo going 4-4 on the night. Veteran Mike Pelfrey toes the rubber to open their doubleheader with Los Angeles Thursday. The right hander looks to for his first quality outing in five starts while cutting down on his walks where he has issued 15 over 19.2 innings.
Two things I know; Haren won't keep up his torid pace and Pelfrey is always an ace for a day although what day is an unknown. No line out but I am leaning over until I see the total although I already don't like this one...
