The Oakland Athletics bring their winning ways to Fenway Park to take on the Boston Red Sox.
Oakland is looking like a threat to win another American League West title although it's far too early to hand them the crown. However the Athletics have to like what they've done the last few days with a three game sweep of rival Texas in which they outscore the Rangers 25-4. The A's were at their best Wednesday when they hammered Texas 12-1 behind a seven run 3rd and a one hit shutout over seven innings by Jesse Chavez. The offense took care of business with a 17 hit explosion that saw Eric Sogard and Yoenis Cespedes combine for five RBI's with Coco Crisp clubbing homer number three. The Athletics turn to Daniel Strailey on the mound to open their series with the Red Sox. Strailey has had some issues with the long ball in the early going with seven homers allowed in five outings.

Boston has not been tearing up the American League East but had seemingly righted the ship or at least had it pointed in the right direction with wins in three of four heading in to their twin bill versus visiting Tampa Bay. The Red Sox struggled at the plate in game one in a 2-1 defeat while the pitching struggled in the night cap in a 6-5 defeat. Game two appeared to be headed for the win column with a five run 5th giving the home team a 5-2 lead but that's when everything went south.Felix Doubront was charged with four runs over six innings but Junichi Tazawa and Koji Uehara gave up 8th and 9th inning runs. The bats managed just five hits but walked ten times with David Ortiz driving in a pair. Clay Buchholz is charged with containing a dangerous Oakland lineup on Friday. Buchholz has yet to find the form from a season ago with a 1-2 record and a 6.66 ERA and a WHIP of 1.75.
Strailey is not the best option has but the offense is swinging the bats so he might survive a less then perfect outing if can keep the ball in the yard. I am simply going with the more consistent team which happens to be the better price as well...
