The Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami Marlins will meet Saturday night to play game two of a three-game series. The Marlins won game one, 6-3.
Even with the loss, the Dodgers have won four of their last six games and are 17-13 on the season. However, the Dodgers pitching staff could improve considering they’ve allowed four or more runs in seven of their last nine games. Offensively, Juan Uribe has six hits in his last three games and Yasiel Puig has 10 RBI in his last nine games. Taking the mound on Saturday is Paul Maholm, who is 1-2 with a 4.74 ERA and has nine strikeouts in 24.2 innings. Maholm is 6-6 with a 4.12 ERA in 13 career starts against the Marlins.
USA TODAY Sports
The Marlins have won their last four games and are an unbelievable 13-4 at home. During this winning streak, the Marlins have scored a combined 29 runs and are 12-7 when scoring at least three runs. Giancarlo Santon has a hit in eight of his last nine games and Casey McGee has seven hits in his last three games. Pitching wise the Marlins have also been on point and Jacob Turner hopes to keep it up. Turner is 0-0 with a 7.50 ERA and has one strikeout in six innings. Turner also allowed 10 hits and three runs in five innings in his only career start against the Dodgers.
The Dodgers are 46-21 in their last 67 road games and 35-16 in their last 51 games as a road favorite. The Marlins are 2-8 in Turner's last 10 starts as an underdog and 16-5 in their last 21 home games vs. a left-handed starter.
The Marlins are simply on fire and seem like they can't lose at home. Until that fire cools off, I'm going to keep riding the fish and the plus money.
