The Washington Nationals and the Philadelphia Phillies square off at Citizens Bank Park Saturday.
Has Washington finally righted the ship and returned to their 2012 NL East championship form? That's a mouthful and impossible to say with the entire season in front of them but for now they look good. After knocking off Philadelphia 5-3 on Friday the Nationals have won seven of eleven and are in a virtual tie for the division lead. Stephen Strasburg was tagged for a three run homer in the first but held Philadelphia at bay for a six inning stint while the Nats mustered ten hits and four walks with Tyler Moore going deep and scoring twice. Tanner Roark takes the ball in game two of their series at Philadelphia. Roark has been outstanding in his last two outings no runs allowed including a complete game 4-0 decision over San Diego.

The Phillies just came off of a successful 6-4 road swing but failed to build on that momentum in a home loss to Washington Friday. No shame in that but this team can't go in to a slide of any length because both the Nats and Braves are too good. The Phillies need strong performances in every area to win and only got it from starter Cliff Lee who was charged with two runs (one earned) through seven innings. Mike Adams blew the save and took the loss with three runs plated on three hits without recording an out. The bats posted eight hits and walked three times with Marlon Byrd accounting for all the scoring with a three run bomb in the first. AJ Burnett will be on the bump for game two of their series with visiting Washington. Burnett has proven to be a great off season signing as he brings 1-1 record and 2.15 ERA to the table.
The Phillies need a win here and Burnett is probably their best option. The problem is the offense, fielding and relievers have to do their job or it won't matter. I backing the Phillies but I am not real confident...
