The surging Seattle Mariners look for consecutive victories against AL West leading Oakland.
I don't know if Seattle can play any better then they have the past two weeks after Monday's 4-2 victory at Oakland gave the M's wins in eight of ten. In this span both the hitting and pitching have contributed with the work on the mound doing the heavy lifting versus the Athletics. Chris Young was solid once again with both runs plated on three hits in six innings to earn the win. The offense gave Young all the support he needed Stefen Romero leading a nine hit attack with his first homer of the season. Lefty Roenis Elias toes the rubber in game two of their weekday series at Oakland. Elias looks to build on his best outing of 2014 with an earned run allowed in a 4-2 victory at New York.

Oakland appears to be the best team in the American League West but sometimes they look ordinary which is generally a loss. That was the case in Monday's series opening defeat versus visiting Seattle with nether the bats or arms performing well. Starter Scott Kazmir fell to 4-1 with all four runs plated on eight hits and a pair of bases on balls given up over six innings of work. That normally would be a winning effort but the offense mustered hust four hits and a trio of walks that saw Brandon Moss connect on a two run jack that tied the game 2-2 in the 4th. Oakland sends Jesse Chavez to the mound who hopes to continue his torid work on the mound. Chavez comes in off his best outing of the season when he tossed a one hitter over seven frames in a 12-1 win at Texas.
I would generally jump on Oakland here but the Mariners are red hot in all areas while Oakland is tough to back when not scoring. I don't know what Elias is going to do and I have liked what I've seen from Chavez so a slight nod to the A's on the mound. No play for me however with Seattle looking good at the plate...
