The Philadelphia Phillies shoot for back to back wins at the expense of the New York Mets.
The Phillies had high hopes heading in to the season but as a fan I wondered if both the pitching and hitting would be consistently productive. After dropping four straight at Toronto by a combined 31-11 count I'd say this team is in trouble. The Phils finally got back in the win column in Friday's 3-2, eleven inning decision. Roberto Hernandez was brillient with a run plated in five frames but did not receive a decision when Antonio Bastardo blew the save. The bats recorded nine hits and walked eleven times with Domonic Brown knocking in two while Marlon Byrd drove in one. The Phillies are scheduled to send Kyle Kendrick to the bump for Saturday's bout with the Mets. Kendrick has been competitive but is 0-3 in six outings with a 3.58 ERA over 37.2 innings.

The Mets were hanging tough in the National League East until recently when the offense went south. New York has suffered three straight shutouts and have dropped seven of eight following Friday's defeat to visiting Philadelphia. Jerry Meija was charged with two runs on six hits and a trio of free passes in 4.2 innings before Carlos Torres took the loss with a run plated in the 11th. The Mets attack consisted of ten hits and five walks with David Wright and Curtis Granderson driving in single runs which were the first scored in four outings. Dillon Gee toes the rubber in game number two of their series versus visiting Philadelphia. Gee has been a complete beast in his last four outings with three shutouts and a total of two runs allowed.
This is a weird game as neither can score while Kendrick has pitched well in this match up and Gee has not although he has been lights out recently. Good luck in this one because I'm just taking the better odds...
