The Detroit Tigers look to end their series against Minnesota with a win on Sunday afternoon.
Minnesota is in need of a hot streak and after Friday's win in Detroit the Twins were hoping to steal another. That didn't happen with the pitching and hitting unable to produce in an 11-3 defeat. Starter Kyle Gibson lasted only two innings with six runs plated in the second on seven hits and a walk to fall to 3-3. The offense produced eight hits and walked four times with Brian Dozier doing all the damage with his third inning three run jack. Minnesota goes with Samuel Deduno on the mound for Sunday's series finale' versus the Tigers. Deduno comes in off of a 4-3 loss to Cleveland in which he allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits in five frames.

Detroit hadn't lost in two weeks before dropping back to back contests where the prolific offense scored a very pedestrian three runs. The Tigers got back on track Saturday with the offense exploding while the pitching was very good. Max Scherzer had one bad inning but was strong otherwise. Scherzer served up a three run homer over six innings of work to improve to 5-1 on the season. The offense pounded out eleven hits and walked once with Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez clubbing three run homers. Robbie Ray gets his second career start when he takes the field versus the Twins. Ray was outstanding in winning his debut where he gave up a single run on five hits and a walk in five innings.
I haven't seen enough of Ray to formulate an oppinion one way or another but what I have seen plenty of is the Tigers scoring in bunches which hopefully happens once again...
