The Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Yankees face off on Sunday at Miller Park as they close out their interleague series.
The Milwaukee Brewers opened their series with the Yankees with a los on Friday but they bounced back on Saturday with a win. Carlos Gomez, Jonathan Lucroy, and Aramis Ramirez each hit home runs as the Brewers scored five runs on 10 hits in all. Startingpither Kyle Lohse allowed eight hits and three runs while striking out two over 6.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Zach Duke blew the save but got the win to go to 2-0 for the season and Francisco Rodriguez earned his 14th save. For Sunday’s game the Brewers start Matt Garza who has won two of his last three starts. For the season Garza has allowed 44 hits and 23 earned runs while striking out 35 over 42 innings for a 203 record and a 4.93 ERA.

The New York Yankees fought their way back into the game on Saturday but in the end they came up short and took the loss. Mark Teixeira had two hits including a home run, Brendan Ryan had two hits, and Carlos Beltran and Brett Gardener each had hits as the Yankees scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia allowed eight hits and four runs, just one earned, while striking out four to not factor in the decision as Alfredo Aceves took the loss. For Sunday’s game the Yankees start David Phelps who has worked out of the bullpen and as a starter this season. For the year Phelps has allowed 13 hits and six earned runs while striking out 19 over 17 innings for a 0-1 record and a 3.18 ERA.
Milwaukee is 20-8 in game three of a series, 2-4 in their last six home games, and 4-1 in Garza’s last five starts as a favorite. New York is 4-2 in their last six home games, 7-3 in game three of a series, and 3-8 against a team with a winning record. New York has won five of their last six games against Milwaukee.
The total is set at 8.5 but I like this one to come in under that and the under is my free pick.
My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
