TV: CSN-CHI, CSN-CA

The Chicago White Sox and Oakland Athletics will play game two of three on Tuesday night at the O.co Coliseum.

The White Sox have lost four of their last five games and have dropped two games below a .500 record. It’s no surprise that during this stretch the White Sox pitching rotation has given up run after run, as all but two of their 21 losses this season have come when they’ve allowed four or more runs. The White Sox remain one of the highest scoring teams in the majors, and Jose Abreu has three homers in his last nine games. Getting the nod on Tuesday is Scott Carroll, who is 1-2 with a 3.63 ERA and has five strikeouts in 17.1 innings. This will be Carroll’s first career game against the Athletics.

USA TODAY Sports

The Athletics are back to playing that quality baseball they played earlier in the year, as they’re riding a five-game winning streak. The A’s have scored four or more runs in five of their last six games and are 18-6 when scoring four or more runs this season. Brandon Moss has 12 hits in his last 10 games and Jed Lowrie has doubled in three straight games. Drew Pomeranz will start for the Athletics, and he’s 2-1 with a 1.45 ERA and has 16 strikeouts in 18.2 innings. This will be Pomeranz’s first career game against the White Sox.

The White Sox are 7-20 in their last 27 road games vs. a left-handed starter and 23-53 in their last 76 road games. The Athletics are 27-11 in their last 38 vs. American League Central and 72-35 in their last 107 home games vs. a right-handed starter. The White Sox are 15-39 in the last 54 meetings in Oakland.

Both teams have had their fare share of struggles, so why not take a chance on the White Sox at this price? The White Sox have shown the ability to score runs in truckloads and can play with anybody when the bats are hot. This is an easy value pick.
